Building our backyard :)

It's been a while........

When we bought our house last year, we were left with little(no) money and little time. The yard was definitely not on our to-do list yet. We built some veggie gardens, but nothing really fun for the girls or for us to relax(although we did build them a small sandbox). This year we had slightly bigger plans :) I mean, we still have no money...Haha, but we didn't want this summer to be boring.

It's a bit blurry, not sure why? It wasn't blurry on my phone. This was our first project(after gardening of course.....I have an update on that as well). The girls have never really had a fun yard(since our trampoline in Nanaimo, but Madison was only 3 when we moved). They definitely needed their first swing set. I built it while Bill was at work. I was pretty proud of myself.

I got most of the frame built with these little beauties right here before i got so annoyed by the pain they were causing my hands!!! Why on earth did I even bother with these. Its not like we don't own about 10million hardly used tools. *facepalm

These were definitely much quicker......and easier to use!! Sometimes I think I like to make myself work harder for no reason. Then, picture being in the car and constantly hearing "Are we there yet?" That is what I heard the entire time I was building this......"Is it done yet?" Yes guys, it has no swings on it yet, but it's totally finished...hop on....Haha

Two hours later...................
It was ready to go(the box said 30 minute build...haha...NOPE). I mean, maybe if the pre-drilled holes were actually lined up, but this was a Walmart house brand swing set! Lol.

Now that we had something to keep the girls busy it was our turn! When we drove to BC last summer, we picked up a few things that we left behind. Some of the things we left were not even used yet(like still in box). I was so excited!

We had a brand new picnic table that turns into a bench with a small table attached. We also had an awesome wooden hammock!! I thought it would be hard, but it is the most comfortable hammock i have ever laid in! These are the only pictures I could find of the yard now that I am finally writing this, but you can't see them very well. We had to put everything away in the shed because of Hurricane Dorian. The backyard feels so much more inviting now. The kids and I love it outside.

Now, the girls are able to be entertained outside while I garden. They also have their own garden which is great. This was all done back in July, I just haven't had time to sit down and write about it. We are now harvesting dozens of tomatoes a day, we've picked 100's of peas and beans, our pepper plants are producing like crazy and we've had quite a few cucumbers and zucchini's. Our herb garden has also grown huge. Everything we planted in it did really well. It's been so nice to just go out and pick fresh herbs and veggies for meals!
