Building our backyard :)

Image
It's been a while........ When we bought our house last year, we were left with little(no) money and little time. The yard was definitely not on our to-do list yet. We built some veggie gardens, but nothing really fun for the girls or for us to relax(although we did build them a small sandbox). This year we had slightly bigger plans :) I mean, we still have no money...Haha, but we didn't want this summer to be boring. It's a bit blurry, not sure why? It wasn't blurry on my phone. This was our first project(after gardening of course.....I have an update on that as well). The girls have never really had a fun yard(since our trampoline in Nanaimo, but Madison was only 3 when we moved). They definitely needed their first swing set. I built it while Bill was at work. I was pretty proud of myself. I got most of the frame built with these little beauties right here before i got so annoyed by the pain they were causing my hands!!! Why on earth did I even bother wi...

Shame on you BC Ferries!

Image
I would do anything possible to help my kids! And I mean ANYTHING! So when someone does something to make me worry about my kids, they are gonna hear about it from me. Last night was one of those nights! Seth took a trip to California/Utah/Idaho for a few weeks so he could be there for the July 4th celebrations. He has a lot of friends down there from school, so we are never very worried when he goes(except when we hear about the earthquakes in California). For some reason he would love to just move there...Haha. Whenever he goes back to BC though, he has to travel through Vancouver. I always worry about him when he is traveling in Vancouver alone. What makes it worse is when he is travelling at night. Last night was one of the worst trips yet. Just so you know how his day started, he was staying in Idaho, so it was a 3 hour drive to Utah for his flight. He left from Salt Lake City at 1:35 pm and since this was an international flight he had to be there extra early. 2 hours ear...

The Girls Teach Us About The Value Of Human Life!

Image
I LOVE  OUR LITTLE  GIRLS!!  So we drove to Halifax the other day to drop Bill off at work. As we drove into the parking lot of his work, there was a woman standing by the corner asking drivers for spare change. She has been there almost every day for the past week or two. The girls were talking to each other in the back seat about how sad they were that the lady didn't have a home. They are so kind and mindful of others feelings all the time! We were telling them that just because she needed money, didn't mean she was homeless. We talked about all the different types of people who ask for money. How some are homeless and working, homeless and not working by choice, homeless and not working because they are unable, not homeless but low income, and not homeless or low income(career homeless....sadly, we've met a few). We talked about how we should always help people if we are able to, but to also remember that we aren't always able to help everyone who asks. The g...

Happy Canada Day!!!!

Image
Canada Day can be one of the best holidays ever!! The only issue I have with Canada Day is that it is in Canada....Haha! Anyone who lives here knows, if you plan something on Canada Day weekend, you need to bring your rain gear!! Just like every other year....IT POURED!! The girls had a lot of fun despite the rain. The people I feel really sorry for(besides the bouncy castle operator at the celebrations) are all the people who went camping in tents this weekend. Although, can you really feel sorry for them when they keep going every year, thinking this year will be the dry one....Haha. Let's face it people, it's not gonna happen :)  We started celebrating the night before. A couple of friends invited us out for their yearly fireworks show. It was awesome! They ended up getting about 30-40 people. They did a great job too! They actually set up a show. They didn't just light one thing at a time. They had them all set up and ready to go. They set them off in a certai...

The girls try Thrills gum!!

Image
So we went Dollarama last night and Bill pointed out that there was a gum that tasted like soap! The girls immediately wanted to try it and thought that it would be really good?!?! Like WHAT?? To me that doesn't really sound very appealing, but I guess you'd have to be these two! I'm actually surprised that Ayla tried it. She has been so picky lately, and yet she will try soap gum?? I'm gonna share the link to their video right here. Please give it a watch. It's super cute. Also Like and Subscribe to their YouTube channel if you want to see more videos of theirs. We have a lot of videos planned for summer vacation. Thanks for reading. If you have any ideas for the girls videos, leave us a message in the comments!! Summer Vacation here we come!

Moncton - Magnetic Hill

Image
This post is a week overdue and now I can't remember what I was going to write about :( We took a trip up to Moncton last weekend, just for the day. We started off how we usually do. We went to Dollarama for snacks and drinks :) We grabbed some hats and sunscreen(since Dartmouth made it feel like it was gonna be a cold day, we didn't bring any) Don't the girls look beautiful with their new hats and purses. :) Then we went on our old pal Google to see what there was to do in the area. There are actually a ton of things to do in Moncton! Just in one area, there is Magic Mountain Splash zone, which is a really fun looking waterpark, Moncton Zoo, and Magnetic Hill. Unfortunately the waterpark was closed(we will definitely be coming back for that), and we didn't really have enough time to see the whole zoo(we decided not to go there this time either), so we went with Magnetic hill. Magnetic Hill is one of the coolest illusions you will ever see! We paid $6...

Spring Fair 2019

Image
The girls had their Spring Fair at school yesterday. They love going every year. It's always a lot of fun for them. All of their friends show up. The sad part....this is their last year at this school. Madison has been going here for 4 years, but we decided that we would send them to the school closer to home next year. Right now it is a 15-20 minute drive. Next year it will be a 5 minute walk. It just makes sense. The nice thing.....we can still go to the Spring Fair every year. :) They had a ton of stuff to do!We didn't get nearly enough pictures of it all. The favorites were bouncy castle, cake walk and this game where you get to pick a giant nose! I didn't catch the name but I imagine it was something like "booger pull" or something like that....Haha. There was a giant papier-mache  nose. Behind each nostril was a bowl. One had prizes and the other had green slime! Once the kids found out that you could keep the slime, noone wanted to win the prizes an...

New Driver in the House

Image
What we've got here is the "why do you have to blog everything" face...Haha. I always love her expressions. Right now Jayden is trying to get all her texting done so she can let everyone know that she won't be answering them for a while. Lol. I'm pretty sure the hour away from her phone didn't actually kill her :) Though I had a pic that made that seem like a lie....Haha! She didn't really drive with her phone on her lap. This is just her showing off that I am stuck in the passenger seat... Haha. She drove around that parking lot doing whatever she wanted to practice and then she took her first trip out onto the road. Just to get rid of some of her nerves, we took the long detour home with the least amount of traffic. She did great!  Being my 3rd child to get their Learners Permit, it doesn't make me all that nervous anymore.  I thought I would be really nervous when Seth first started driving, but he is always pretty confident in what he ...

The yard work has begun!!

Image
Well technically, the yard work started about a week ago, but I wasn't there for it....Haha. Bill had a day off without me. I wish I took "before" photos. I could've shown you what not to do with your garden at the end of summer. That would include not leaving all your plants to rot through winter. :(  I'm sure it can't be good for the soil.  It definitely gave the bugs more places to live and have shelter. :(  Every spring our yard is a mess. Even if all we have is a lawn. :) I'm sure we aren't the only family that has that problem. You use your yard all summer and then BAM, it's freezing! It comes out of nowhere and your winter coats just don't work as well as they should after 2-3 months of beach weather warming up your body. It's the same thing after Halloween and Christmas. Putting up the decorations is fun, but taking them down, you feel like you are living in the Arctic! Halloween decor gets put away at Christmas, and Christmas ...

An 8 year old can get migraines?!?!?!

Image
FRIDAY: Here we are at 1:22am. Yes you see that correctly. It says AM! So backstory: Every afternoon since Tuesday, Madison has been having severe eye, head, and ear pain. We had been treating her with ibuprofen thinking she may be sick. On Friday we figured there is probably something bigger going on, so we decided to take her to the IWK children's hospital. I left work an hour early, 5:00pm, and we grabbed some fast food(because we all know this is going to be a long visit). After getting through Halifax's rush hour traffic, it was 6:15 when we arrived at the hospital.  The Triage nurse checked her vitals, then gave her some ibuprofen. It took about 45 minutes to get put in a room, which is record time for the children's ER. It was pretty busy that night too. The girls ate some of their dinner while we waited to be seen. I know it's not the healthiest option...Haha. The nurse came in after about 15 minutes, took her vitals and asked some questions. Madi...
