Happy Canada Day!!!!
Canada Day can be one of the best holidays ever!! The only issue I have with Canada Day is that it is in Canada....Haha! Anyone who lives here knows, if you plan something on Canada Day weekend, you need to bring your rain gear!! Just like every other year....IT POURED!! The girls had a lot of fun despite the rain. The people I feel really sorry for(besides the bouncy castle operator at the celebrations) are all the people who went camping in tents this weekend. Although, can you really feel sorry for them when they keep going every year, thinking this year will be the dry one....Haha. Let's face it people, it's not gonna happen :)
We started celebrating the night before. A couple of friends invited us out for their yearly fireworks show. It was awesome! They ended up getting about 30-40 people. They did a great job too! They actually set up a show. They didn't just light one thing at a time. They had them all set up and ready to go. They set them off in a certain order, with no real pauses in between, perfectly timed. It was like a mini version of the city fireworks, except it lasted 10 times longer!! I know where I'm going for fireworks every year now :) A longer, more entertaining show, and no annoying, drunken yahoo's like downtown....Haha. Now if only I could talk my teens into avoiding the city ones :)
The next day, we went to the Canada Day celebrations at Fisherman's Cove, in Eastern Passage. The girls were super excited because they got to go meet "REAL LIVE MERMAIDS!!!!!!!" I forget one of the mermaids names now. That's what I get for not writing this down right away. :( The one on the right is Mermaid Victoria. Her family goes to church with us. Madison and Ayla thought these two were SOOOO Beautiful! What a great idea for little girls. These mermaids do shows all over town I've heard. The girls waited in line a long time to meet them too!
This poor Mermaid and her sweet little Merpup, look like they have been waiting here a while too....Haha. I think it was Ariel! By the way, the Merpup also had a cute little tail!
Seaside FM was giving out some yummy free snacks and drinks. And then the rain started! Did the girls want to leave and go home though? Of course not. They wanted to wait in a really long line for the bouncy castle! How wet do you think we were by the end of it?......
....Let's put it this way, the bouncy castle, became a bouncy pool.... Haha! The girls weren't really that upset about it. They wanted to wait in line again. We walked around for a few more minutes then we headed to the visitors info center where they had a local band playing. It wasn't really our style but free is free right? It was a great day, regardless of the weather. We went home and spent the rest of the day watching movies together. And then we did pretty much the same thing for the next 2 days while it just continued to pour down like crazy. Good old Canada Day weekend :) Next year will be the year..........
