Hope For Wildlife

Image
It's Sunday!!!!!! You know what that means :) Time for another family day trip. Today we were invited by some friends to go to an awesome place called Hope For Wildlife. I can't believe we have never taken the time to come here. The kids had so much fun running from enclosure to enclosure to see what animals were being taken care of and best of all, IT'S FREE!! Hope For Wildlife is a rescue society for injured or abandoned animals. The people who work here are super friendly and knowledgeable about all the animals in their care. They do accept donations, but don't expect them. They sell a lot of items in their gift shop to raise money also. There is something for everyone, from a $1 chocolate to a $60 jacket, and more. It's a really fun place to take children under 12 for sure, but really, as an adult I loved it just as much as the kids did. Located in Seaforth/Head of Chezzetcook, NS, it is about a 35 minute drive from Cole Harbour or 40 mins from Dartm...

How Important Is Graduation to me?

Image
I wish I had started writing this blog a long time ago. There are so many things that have happened that I haven't written about. So I think what I will do is go back through my pics and find as many things as I can that are important to me, and add them on here. I would hate to lose out on sharing so many memories. The first pics I stumbled upon were Seth and Amy's grad photos :) You all have no idea how absolutely excited and proud Bill and I are that both of them have graduated! These were 2 of the most exciting days ever!!  For anyone who doesn't already know, I had Seth when I was 17, right after I finished Grade 10. For me, graduation took a lot of work, and I definitely didn't make it easy on myself. I took the next year off school, and just before I decided to go back, I found out I was pregnant with Amy! I was in a young moms group at the time. We met every week and did activities together.  There was a woman who started coming to the meetings hopi...

Walking on the ocean floor...without getting wet!

Image
I am really loving these last few Sundays! We are taking the chance to go find some areas of Nova Scotia that we wouldn't normally visit. It's so much fun! We don't even plan ahead. We just go to church, come home and change to more casual clothes and start googling random places to see what we think looks interesting that day :) Today's find was awesome!! About an hour and 30 minutes from home, on a long and windy back road, we found Burntcoat Head Provincial Park. It is like nothing I've ever seen before. We were literally walking on the ocean floor while the tide was out. And I don't mean like walking out on a beach. There is literally no beach here. If the tide came in you would be stuck wherever you were walking. They actually have a sign that says "for your safety, be back to the stairs by....." or you will be cut off from stairway! So we started off how we usually do. Packed a few snacks, a change of clothes, rubber boots for the g...

Ridiculously Easy Playdough

Image
Ok, I will admit it. Sometimes I get super lazy by the time I get home from work. So when the girls get an idea in their heads like, "let's make playdough" at 7pm, I cringe...Haha. The thing is though, either Bill or I always give in to them. They are just so darn cute! Especially when you say no, and they give you those puppy dog eyes.  Well here goes! At work we came up with this really easy recipe. I'm sure there are better ones out there, but this one came out great and took literally 5 minutes to make. That's my kind of after work activity. The only ingredient we don't normally have on hand is cream of tartar. It's pretty inexpensive though. The best part about this recipe is that besides the hot water, the girls do practically everything themselves.  1.5 cups plain white flour 1/2 cup salt 2 tbsp cream of tartar 1 tbsp vegetable oil 1 cup boiling water(mix with food colouring before adding) 3-6 drops food colouring(until you reach...
